The Environmental Club, operating under Yildiz Technical University, is a volunteer-based student club that aims to develop comprehensive and holistic solutions to problems by thoroughly analyzing the industrial, social, and environmental dimensions of the sustainable development process. Since 2012, it has continued its activities under the name YTÜÇEV.
On our journey to raise awareness and educate others, we aim to create social benefit and add value through a sustainable vision and mission. By organizing seminars, talks, workshops, and technical field trips, we bring students together with experts, environmentally conscious individuals, and organizations in their respective fields. Driven by the goals of focusing on and spearheading projects that benefit the environment, we organize activities and projects for our members that integrate an environmentally conscious perspective into their areas of interest or the professional fields they are studying. We embrace the idea that technology—which has reached the point of destroying nature—can be used today as a tool to save nature.
Regular events held within the club include Green Startups, the Sustainability Summit, the Green Sector, and the Environmental Festival. Seeking solutions to critical global issues such as the climate crisis and uncontrolled waste management; aiming to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals; raise awareness by sharing social and technological innovations with people of all ages; and guide prospective students in line with the goals and objectives of the Environmental Engineering department—often referred to as the “profession of the future”—we organize these events annually through various partnerships. The YTÜ Zero Waste Club,, which began operations in 2021, organizes events to raise university students’ awareness about how zero-waste initiatives should be implemented in both social and corporate life, and aims to promote the adoption of a sustainable lifestyle.
